Denna's Reflexology and Reiki

FOOT SOAK:  10 Minute foot soak in a mixture of Himalayan salt, Sea salt and Epsom salt with or without essential oils of clients choosing; followed by a gentle foot scrub and rinse. Salt foot soaks are believed to relieve aches and pains, decrease inflammation, improve circulation, and soften and deodorize the feet.

REFLEXOLOGY SESSION:  60 Minute Foot Reflexology session.  By applying specific pressure to the foot using thumb, finger and hand techniques, reflexology reduces tension, improves circulation, and promotes the natural functioning of the related areas of the body.

LOWER LEG MASSAGE:  20 Minute lower leg massage. The gentle pressure of hands feels good on sore muscles. Not only does leg massage make you feel good, it has significant health benefits that aid relief from stress, disease, and pain.

Reflexology is a natural, non-invasive healing art that is based on the principle that there are reflexes in the feet, hands and ears that correspond to every part of the body.  The physical image of the body is mapped onto the feet in a logical, anatomical pattern; the toes represent the head, the ball of the foot corresponds to the internal organs and the heel of the foot corresponds to the pelvic region in our body.

Through application of pressure on these reflexes- with hands only- Reflexology relieves tension, improves circulation, opens the flow in blocked nerves and helps promote the natural functioning and healing of the body.

A full consultation will be taken on your first visit, and a provisional treatment plan agreed with you. You will be asked to remove your socks and shoes, before relaxing in a reclining chair or on a massage table, and the reflexes on your feet will be worked. Every individual responds differently to reflexology, some feel rested and choose to relax while others may feel energized.

It is not possible to predict in advance how you will react during your reflexology treatment, but you may notice some reactions in response to the stimulation of the reflex points on the feet. The treatment should not hurt, but where the body is out of balance the corresponding reflex point may be tender.
These are normal reactions to the healing process and demonstrate that you are responding well to the reflexology treatment and may include:

    Changes in body temperature
    Rumbling stomach
    Changes in mood
    Experiencing warmth or tingling
Reflexology works to re-balance energy in the body, and in doing so it may help in many ways, these include:

    Improves sense of well being
    Relaxes the mind and body
    Improves mood
Supports the natural healing process of the body
    Aids sleep
    Aids stress
    Relieves tension
    Helps relaxation

Reflexology does not claim to cure, diagnose or prescribe, and should not be used as an alternative to seeking medical advice. However, due to the increased relaxation and relief from tension that reflexology provides, it may support people with:

    Breathing disorders
    Digestive disorders
    Fertility issues
    Hormonal imbalances
    Muscular and joint pain
    Sleep disorders
    Depression and anxiety
After your reflexology treatment, the therapist will give you full aftercare advice to ensure that you are aware of what to expect and you will be encouraged to relax and rest for a few minutes, before being offered a glass of water.

Hot Stone Reflexology is a very grounding, relaxing and healing session. It incorporates the placement of warmed Basalt stones on specific reflex areas of the feet and legs. The heat of the stones releases deep into the tissues. Massaging an area of the leg/foot with several stones once, enhances the over all effect equivalent to ten normal massage strokes.

*All the benefits of a regular reflexology session
*Assists the mind to reach a meditative state
*Relaxes and soothes the body
*Increases metabolism
*Pain reduction for sore muscles, tendons and tissues
*Increased range of motion

Reiki was founded by the Japanese scholar Mikao Usui in the early part of the 20th century.

The Japanese word “Reiki” (pronounced ray-key) refers to the life giving energy flowing within and around us that nourishes all living things. Reiki is a form of complementary therapy for balancing, healing and harmonizing the mind, emotions and spirit, as well as the physical body promoting a sense of well-being. It is a safe, gentle, non-intrusive hands on healing technique that uses energy to treat physical ailments without the need for massage or manipulation

During a session, the person remains clothed and the practitioner’s hands can be placed in contact with the person or a few inches away. Reiki flows through the hands of the practitioner to release blockages caused by stress and pain in our body. Reiki allows the body’s natural energy to flow again, to heal itself and prevent further illness.

A Reiki session is often experienced as gentle, relaxing and meditative.

Reiki restores the balance and harmony within allowing the body to heal itself.

Some possible benefits are:
Strengthens the immune system
Releases stress and tension
Normalizes body functions
Releases or eases pain
Improves digestion
Improves urination
Increases energy

Your body may experience detoxifying reactions for 1 to 4 days after a session. These reactions are the body’s natural ways to better health. Some people may experience:
Gas release
Watery eyes
Temporary rash
Increased mucus
A bad taste in the mouth
Perspiration/release of excess fluid
Diarrhea/frequent bowel movement
